Update #5 – Things are happening

Well, hey there! Hope you’re doing well! It’s been a while since I’ve updated you guys on the ongoings in and around me, so how about I catch you up with what’s been happening.

First of all, I’d like to apologize for the delays over the last two weeks, but my life has been nothing short of hog wild since the last upload. I don’t even really know where to begin. Uh, I guess the biggest piece of news is that me and a couple of friends of mine have begun working on creating a proper, steam-release-scale video game during our (rapidly dwindling) free time. Given that everything’s still in the planning and pre-production phase for now, I sadly can’t really update you guys on any of that business just yet, but I’ll be sure to keep you posted as things develop.

So, as you can probably guess, the whole game creation kerfuffle was what’s been eating most of my free time and causing most of the delays recently. Even beyond that, though, I’ve been kept busy by friends and family. Since the summer holidays are slowly coming to an end over here in Germany, my household has been the host to a constant stream of relatives from all over the country. Even just a year ago, the presence of those guys wouldn’t have bothered me that much, and I probably would have kept on working as usual. But over the last year, I’ve finally realized something that should have been obvious from the start: A Family is something that’s really fucking important in your life.

As much as I enjoy the creation of this sci-fi universe filled with psychopathic space furries, in the end, all of it’s just virtual data with very little impact on the real world (well, for now, anyways). Compared to the humans that surround me every day, the same humans that would love nothing more than to just spend some time with me, either talking, climbing a mountain or getting completely shitfaced — there really seems to be no in between – all of this rykani business is just not that vital. Which isn’t to say that I don’t value this whole thing. I mean, I’ve spent a significant portion of the lockdown years on the creation of this universe and am now just bursting with stories needing to be told, but compared to the non-virtual beings around me, most of whom haven’t seen as much of me over the last few years as they’d have liked, this is all second rate. It took me quite a while to figure this out for myself, and to finally get my priorities straight, but here we are.

So, now that I’ve given ample excuses as to why I’ve missed two comic uploads and Sunday Streams in a row, here’s my action plan moving forward: With the release of this update, I’ll also upload the 8th page of AAiS as an apology for me sucking at keeping my schedules. Next Friday will feature the long-awaited next entry in the Rykani Basics series, where you’ll learn everything you’ve ever wanted to know about rykani biology, and next Sunday will feature the long awaited return of the Sunday Stream. Maybe I’ll plan something special for that, but we’ll see. There’s also a slight chance that I might stream during the course of the week, but since my house is still packed with relatives, I wouldn’t count on it. If it happens at all, it’ll be a pretty spontaneous thing, but you can follow my Twitter account to get the news, since I always tweet there about five seconds before going online.

But with that, I think I’ve said everything there is to say. To quickly summarize: Sorry for having ADD, Rykani Basics #4 next Friday, Sunday Stream next Sunday, Comic will continue with weekly updates in two weeks, go touch grass, talk to your parents, tell them you love them, and you are now breathing manually. Have a good one!
