An Altercation in Space C1P16

Well, well, well. Seems like there’s even more trouble on the horizon for Fris and his sentient home assistant, as their generally miserable state of affairs has just been made infinitely worse by the discovery of a Za’tchyk orbital outpost located somewhere within the Thi’keos system.

Given our duo’s allegiance to the side opposing the Za’tchyk Alliance, this may or may not add to the gigantic pile of issues facing them in the near future. Luckily, though, it seems like Fris’s anger has given him the confidence needed for decisive action. Let’s wait and see what he’s got planned…

Website-Exclusive Author’s Note:

This is the worst page I have ever drawn.

Now, I may or may not have said similar things in the past, but this time I really mean it. This page was doomed from the start, and things only went continuously downhill from there.

Things started off well enough, since I had created a new workflow document that should have, in theory, offered me an easy-to-follow pathway for the creation of this page within a 7-day time limit. However, things derailed relatively quickly when my brain, in its infinite wisdom, randomly decided that I should just “wing” the perspective since all shots were pretty zoomed in any way.

You can probably guess how things went from there. Shoddily done perspective led to bad sketches, bad sketches led to more work and a slipping of the schedule, the slip of the schedule and the huge amount of work required to fix the sketches led to me procrastinating working on the page, which led to further delays and shoddily done repair work. The end result is expectantly awful.

The text on this page hides a lot of my perspective tomfoolery, but even just a quick glance at the bottom of panel 1 should give you a hint as to nothing making proper sense here. And speaking of text, I also didn’t really plan this page around the text it would eventually contain, so now I’m forced to take the reader for a weird ride all around the page to make things work with the little space I gave myself.

Those are the reasons why I officially nominate page 16 as the worst page of AAiS drawn to date. This really wasn’t fun, let’s hope 17 turns out better.
